Telefónica Deutschland launches new speed-tiered O₂ Free portfolio with 5G optionality At the start of the new decade, Telefónica Deutschland enters the next stage of mobile communications in an increasingly digital world: As the first mobile network operator in Germany, Telefónica Deutschland will be offering a speed tiered O₂ Free unlimited portfolio from 4 February 2020. The three new tariffs offer the right speed for every customer need. For customers preferring a classic, volume-based offer, the existing O₂ Free portfolio will benefit from double data volumes at unchanged price levels. Finally, the higher-value tariffs (EUR 39.99 and above) will be 5G-ready. With this new propositions, O₂ continues to drive portfolio innovations for German mobile market with a clear focus on data monetisation amongst new and existing customers. The new O₂ Free Unlimited tariffs include a national flat rate for voice and SMS and EU-roaming and are structured as follows: - O₂ Free Unlimited Max: 5G readiness and unlimited data usage with maximum available speeds of up to 225 mbps at EUR 49.99 per month - O₂ Free Unlimited Smart: 5G readiness and unlimited data usage with up to 10 mbps at EUR 39.99 per month - O₂ Free Unlimited Basic: Unlimited 4G data usage with up to 2 mbps at EUR 29.99 per month All O₂ Free Unlimited tariffs are also available in the Flex version: For a surcharge of EUR 5.00 per month, they can be cancelled at any time with a 30 days' notice period to the end of the billing period. The existing volume-based O₂ Free tariffs S, M and L as well as the Boost option (EUR 5.00 per month to double respective data volumes) remain available at unchanged price points with upgraded double data volumes at maximum available speeds of up to 225mbps: - O₂ Free L: 5G readiness and 60 GB at EUR 39.99 per month - O₂ Free M: 20 GB with maximum speed at EUR 29.99 per month - O₂ Free S: 3 GB with maximum speed at EUR 19.99 per month The new O₂ Free Unlimited and the updated volume-based tariffs are underpinning our vision to become Germany's mobile customer and digital champion in the era of 5G. In a 5G world, Telefónica Deutschland aims to further accelerate its growth trajectory and is thus launching a 2-year network-focused investment programme in 2020. It will centre on boosting rural coverage primarily with 4G and accelerating urban capacity primarily with 5G.
