More 5G Mobile Tariffs:O2 Goes on The Offensive With 5G

O2 goes on the offensive with 5G.
The O2 brand is expanding the range of its 5G-capable mobile tariffs. From July 6, all new and existing customers will be able to use the latest mobile communications standard with any of the O2 Free Unlimited tariffs or a volume tariff from the O2 Free M onwards.1,2 This means that 5G tariffs are available from O2 from €29.99 per month. When taking out a new contract for one of these tariffs, 5G will automatically be included for O2 customers, existing customers can book the free "5G access" package.1,2 Currently, O2 customers already have access to 5G with the O2 Free Unlimited Max and O2 Free Unlimited Smart tariffs as well as the O2 Free L Boost and O2 Free L. From July 6, 5G will also be a fixed component of the O2 Free Unlimited Basic and the O2 Free M Boost and O2 Free M volume tariffs, which are very popular with customers.1 This will further improve the already convincing price-performance ratio of the respective tariffs, because with 5G the maximum data speed of the O2 Free M Boost and O2 Free M tariffs increases to 300 Mbit/s.3 Customers who already have an O2 contract for their internet or landline connection will benefit from a 50 per cent discount thanks to the Combi Advantage and pay only EUR 14.99 per month for the O2 Free M, for example.4 For young people under 29 and people over 60, the monthly price is reduced by EUR 10.5,6

5G For Existing Customers

Customers who already have an O2 contract for their internet or landline connection will benefit from a 50 per cent discount thanks to the Combi Advantage.
At O2, as many existing customers as possible should be able to experience the benefits of 5G. Anyone who took out a 4G-capable O2 Free M Boost or M tariff before July 6 can simply add the free "5G Access" package via the Mein O2 App. Customers using the O2 Multicard only need to book the "5G Access" package once to get 5G for all SIM cards running on the contract. The same applies to customers using the Connect Option. The Connect Option offers up to 10 additional cards in the O2 Free L Boost and O2 Free M Boost tariffs. In the data-only tariffs O2 my Data L, M or S, 5G has been included for new customers since May 5. Existing customers who had booked a data tariff before May 5 can also have the free "5G access" package activated via the Mein O2 App.

Rising Demand For 5G

The prerequisite for surfing with 5G is, in addition to a corresponding tariff and 5G network coverage, a 5G-capable mobile device. To date, Telefónica Deutschland / O2 has connected 60 cities in Germany to the 5G network. By the end of the year, the O2 network will cover 30% of the population and the whole of Germany with 5G by the end of 2025. At the same time, more and more consumers in Germany are using 5G-enabled mobile devices. At O2, for example, the share of 5G-enabled smartphones sold in the first quarter of 2021 was already over 50 per cent.
